Legendary Naadam festival Tour
***About the festival: The most significant event of the year in Mongolia is the Naadam Festival, well-known as the Eriin Gurvan Naadam. During Naadam, nomads engage in three of Mongolia’s traditional manly sports: wrestling, archery, and horse racing. Women also participate in archery, and girls participate in horse racing.
Naadam festival has been celebrated for centuries as a test of the courage and strength of the nomadic people and warriors. People travel from all corners of the country as well as overseas to enjoy the Naadam festival. The celebration is held across the country, usually between 11 to 13 July, to mark the anniversary of the 1921 Mongolian Revolution.
Naadam is celebrated all around the country, and every town and village holds wrestling, archery, and horse racing contests. The official Naadam opening ceremony in Ulaanbaatar is quite spectacular. Riders dress as Chinggis Khan’s entourage and lead a vast procession around the Naadam Stadium, which features hundreds of adults and children dressed in costumes representing all of Mongolia’s ethnic groups.
